Season Information

What families should know

This page covers the items that generally apply to both Spring and Fall. Exact dates, practice locations, registration fees, game schedules, and available divisions can change by season and will be posted on the Registration page or communicated directly to registered families.

1. When does each season start?

West Orange Soldiers offers Spring and Fall programming. Practice and game start dates vary each season. Current dates are posted during the registration window and shared with registered families as the league schedule is finalized.

2. When and where are practices?

Practice days, times, and locations are set for each season and may change based on field availability, weather, and team needs. Families receive the current practice schedule before the season begins and are notified of changes by their team.

3. How long is the season?

Season length depends on the league schedule and postseason qualification. Football teams generally play a multi-week regular season followed by playoffs or championship rounds when applicable.

4. What format of football is played?

Game format and rules are determined by the league for that season and age division. Current rules, including field format, kicking rules, clock rules, and other competition requirements, will be communicated before games begin.

5. What age divisions are offered?

West Orange Soldiers generally offers youth divisions from 6U through 14U. The exact divisions available each season depend on league offerings, registration numbers, and roster formation.

6. What does the registration fee cover?

Registration fees support uniforms and program operating expenses such as league fees, insurance, field rentals, equipment, and other season costs. The specific fee and included uniform items are listed with each season's registration product.

7. What equipment does an athlete need?

Football athletes should plan for cleats, a mouthguard, water, practice clothing, and any other items listed by their coach. Program-issued or loaned football equipment may be available depending on the season and inventory. Cheer families will receive season-specific uniform and equipment requirements.

8. Is there a minimum playing requirement?

Unless the league specifically establishes one for a season, there is no guaranteed minimum number of plays. Attendance, preparation, effort, development, team needs, safety, and game situations can all affect playing time.

9. Where are games played?

Home and away locations are determined by the league schedule. Families should expect travel within the league's operating area. Final locations and kickoff times are shared as soon as the league releases the schedule.

10. Are roster sizes limited?

Yes. The program may cap rosters when necessary to maintain safe, manageable team sizes and a quality experience for athletes. Families are encouraged to register early when a season opens.

11. Can I register more than one child?

Yes. Each athlete must have a separate registration. Complete one registration for the first athlete, add it to the cart, then choose Add Another Player to complete the next athlete's registration.

12. Where do I find season-specific information?

The Registration page is the primary source for open registration windows and available programs. Once registered, families should also watch team communications for schedules, field changes, equipment distribution, and other season-specific updates.
